Fishing

Sea Fishing

The coastal waters of South East Cornwall are excellent for sea angling, whether directly from the beaches and rocks along the coast, or from a chartered fishing boat from Looe or Polperro. Gribben Head and Pencarrow Head provide good rock fishing, while conger, mackerel, wrasse and pollack can be caught from most beaches, particularly Cawsand, Whitsand Bay, Seaton, Downderry and Plaidy. Consideration should always be shown to other beach users whilst fishing.

For Sea Angling, many day and half-day boat trips are available from Looe, Polperro, Polruan and Fowey. These trips tend to be advertised in the windows of the chandlery shops or along the quayside. In Looe most of the boat trips are advertised along East Looe Quay where noticeboards are put up by the skippers. Simply take your pick of the boat you want and sign on up!! Equipment is usually supplied but check first. Likely catch will be ling, cod, bream and conger. Looe is also the home of the Shark Angling Club of Great Britain and trips can still be made to try big game fishing for blue and porbeagle sharks.
