Pencubitt House was built in 1897 for a wealthy wool merchant, J. H. Blamey. For a brief history click here

Pencubitt is all non smoking indoors, but guests who wish to smoke may take advantage of the terrace and Verandah.

Facilities at Pencubitt are designed for adults seeking peace and quiet far from the madding crowd.

Unfortunately, we are not able to cater for children under 12 years of age or pets.

Pencubitt has a large comfortable Bar Lounge with a real fire in winter, great for those cosy evenings with a nightcap.

The view from the bar overlooks the gardens and provides stunning views of the rolling countryside.

The bar lounge terrace faces south overlooking the Looe Valley and makes for the most pleasant summer evening drinks.

Figs, date palms, olives, kiwi fruit, Limes and Lemons all grow well on the terrace.

There is a spacious dining room serving full English breakfasts and three course evening meals with fresh coffee and an extensive wine list. Wine list click here

There is safe off street parking for twelve or more cars reached by the winding drive from the main gate.

Pencubitt has gardens of approximately two and acres, mainly laid to lawn with trees, shrubs and hedgerows which attract all manner of wildlife.

Housemartins and jackdaws nest on the house and bats and swifts nest nearby. Birds such as the Firecrest or Goldcrest, Tree Creepers, Goldfinch, wrens and robins live in the trees in the garden. Buzzards, Sparrowhawks and Ravens can be seen almost daily in the air.

The head of Bertha Gribble can be found in the gardens beside the drive. The work of local artist, Margaret Eglin, Bertha keeps a an eye on Pencubitt.

The gardens contain various shrubs including Azalea, Rhodedendron, Hydrangea and plants such as Tree fern, Giant Echium, Delphinium, Hollyhocks, Agapanthus and many other exotics and interesting flora.

The gardens have various walking paths through the trees and are available for the pleasure of our guests.

There are many local walks from the hotel along the Looe Valley and around the town.

We have Croquet Lawn for the adventurous.

Pencubitt provides free wireless broadband and also offers photo printing, CD burning, and fax.
