Dorette and Clive Emmerson have been at Pencubitt since April 2002. Clive, a Chef in a former life, is a retired Metropolitan Police Officer who has returned to his former calling. Dorette was a nurse and receptionist. With their skills and experiences combined, they felt that running a small hotel would be a very satisfying experience. Aiming at the over 50s market they have found the experience most enjoyable. This is due mainly to the wonderful guests who have stayed and those who regularly return.

Pencubitt is run for the comfort of its residential guests, the restaurant is not open to the public and there is no conferencing, functions or weddings. Pencubitt is a tranquil haven far from the madding crowd with peace and quiet in abundance, consequently there are no children under 12 years or pets accommodated.
